Volunteer for the Board of Directors

Niagara Regional Housing is looking for volunteers from our housing provider sector to temporarily serve on a Board of Directors who are experiencing financial or operational difficulties.

Volunteers who are appointed will serve on a specific board of directors for an initial 2-year term to help resolve the housing provider's difficulties, with the goal of returning control to the housing provider once the provider is stabilized.

Volunteers will receive a small honorarium for the monthly meetings they attend.

Expectations and Qualifications

Volunteers are expected to attend monthly board meetings, participate in discussions, and may be requested to participate on board sub-committees to move forward with overall stabilization plans.

Volunteers are expected to have:

  • Knowledge or experience in affordable housing management, community-based programs or housing development
  • Board experience
  • Volunteer experience
